Use Cookmarks in Muse

Connect Cookmarks to Muse and it can work with your recipe library, meal plan and grocery list. Ask it to plan dinners from recipes you’ve saved and put the ingredients on your list. Connecting is free on every plan.

Connect in one message

Copy this message and send it to Muse:

Create a custom connector for Cookmarks, my recipe app. It's a remote MCP server at https://www.cookmarks.app/api/mcp (Streamable HTTP). It signs in with OAuth, so send me to the Cookmarks sign-in page instead of asking for an API key. Setup details: https://www.cookmarks.app/resources/muse

Muse then opens a Cookmarks page. Sign in, check what it’s asking for, and choose Allow. You never need to create or paste a password or key.

Or add it in Settings

If your Muse has Settings › Connectors › Add custom connector, name it Cookmarks and paste this link, then sign in and allow access:

https://www.cookmarks.app/api/mcp

Use the address exactly as shown, including www. Muse is available to adults in the US.

Things to try

  • “Plan dinners for this week from my Cookmarks recipes and add the ingredients to my grocery list.”
  • “What’s on my meal plan this weekend?”
  • “Save this recipe to Cookmarks: (paste a link)”
  • “Find my lasagna recipe and tell me how long it takes.”
  • “Add lemons and parmesan to my Cookmarks grocery list.”

What Muse can do

Reading tools never change anything:

  • Search my recipes — Finds recipes saved in your library.
  • Get recipe — Reads one recipe in full: your own recipes with your edits, notes and tags, or any public recipe.
  • Get meal plan — Reads your planned meals and cooking history for a date range.
  • Get grocery list — Reads your grocery list, including checked items.
  • Check import status — Checks on a recipe import that was still running.

These tools add to your account. Nothing they do overwrites or deletes anything:

  • Plan a meal — Adds a recipe from your library to your meal plan on a date. A past date is logged as cooked, so it shows in your cooking history and, with a public profile, your activity feed.
  • Add to grocery list — Adds items, a recipe’s ingredients, or everything planned for some dates.
  • Import recipe — Saves a recipe from a web page or a supported social post to your library.

Imports count toward your plan’s import allowance, just like imports on the website. Recipe search matches recipe titles, so ask for a dish by name (“my chicken curry”) rather than by ingredient.

Privacy and control

  • Muse sees your own library, meal plan and grocery list, plus recipes that are already public on Cookmarks. It can’t read other people’s private recipes, and it can’t change your password, email or billing.
  • What you share in a conversation is handled by Meta under its terms. See our Privacy Policy for how Cookmarks handles your data.
  • To disconnect, open Settings › Connected apps and choose Disconnect. Access stops right away. You can also remove the connector in Muse.

Troubleshooting

  • Muse asks for an API key. Cookmarks doesn’t use API keys. Tell Muse the connector signs in with OAuth and send the message above again.
  • Muse says it can’t reach Cookmarks. Remove the connector, send the message again and sign in when asked.
  • An import says the allowance is full. Free accounts have a limit on saved imports. See plans for details.
  • Still stuck? Email support@cookmarks.app and say you’re using Muse.

Connection details

For Muse and other assistants setting up the connector:

  • Server: https://www.cookmarks.app/api/mcp, a remote MCP server using Streamable HTTP. Responses are JSON; there are no sessions and no SSE stream, so GET returns 405.
  • Authentication: OAuth 2.1 with PKCE and dynamic client registration. An unauthenticated request gets a 401 whose WWW-Authenticate header points to https://www.cookmarks.app/.well-known/oauth-protected-resource, which names the authorization server. Send the access token as Authorization: Bearer on every request. No API keys.
  • Tools: search_my_recipes, get_recipe, get_meal_plan, get_grocery_list, get_import_status, plan_meal, add_to_grocery_list, import_recipe. Recipe IDs come from search_my_recipes.
  • Limits: 60 tool calls a minute and 2,000 a day per user (the day resets at midnight UTC); write tools also 20 a minute and 300 a day.
